Kinetic Energy In The Community

Harnessing energy through Play – Dundee’s kinetic interactive play arena (KIPA)

Collaborating with Giles Rayner – Water Sculpture and Dean Izod – Innovation Director embarking on a groundbreaking venture, intertwining identity, space, and experience to revolutionise energy conservation within urban landscapes. Seeking to redefine societal norms and cultural paradigms, we created an innovative, interactive installation with a profound impact on Dundee’s heritage and its trajectory towards a sustainable future.

The aspiration was audacious yet purposeful: forge a pioneering Kinetic Interactive Play Arena (KIPA), an unparalleled installation merging Dundee’s historical narrative with contemporary and future energy dynamics. This unprecedented concept aligned with Scotland’s esteemed status as a front-runner in renewable energy endeavours.

KIPA’s essence lies in its dual functionality—immersing participants in Dundee’s rich history while leveraging its interactivity to generate real-time energy through various cutting-edge technologies. This convergence of heritage preservation and energy generation lays the groundwork for a paradigm shift in how societies harness and perceive sustainable energy sources.

In essence, KIPA stands as a testament to innovative design thinking—an embodiment of synergy between historical reverence, technological advancement, and communal engagement, aiming to shape a greener tomorrow through the playful exploration of our past and present.
