Etihad Airways F1 Abu Dhabi

A design concept that included lamella structure

Commissioned by Etihad Airway head of communications to create a 20-meter x 20-meter two-storey pavilion, encased by a 30-meter diameter unique architectural structure, for the Abu Dhabi F1 event. This innovative space, known as the social hub, aimed to provide a captivating multimedia experience centered around the theme of ‘Connecting the World Journey,’ leveraging cutting-edge immersive technology for entertainment.

The core idea driving the design was to craft a distinctive architectural structure that symbolised flight. The resulting organic shape was visually porous and served as a manifestation of an engineering approach rooted in material science. The construction method employed, known as lamella, not only added a unique aesthetic appeal but also brought the Etihad Airways brand to life through a fusion of form and function.

The pavilion’s architectural marvel stemmed from the innovative use of lamella construction methods. This technique, inspired by nature’s organic patterns, allowed for the creation of a visually dynamic and structurally sound space. The lattice-like structure not only symbolized the essence of flight but also served as a testament to Etihad Airways’ commitment to pushing the boundaries of design and engineering.
